DuckDuckGo Sees Surge in Installs After Google Goes All-In on AI Search at I/O

At the I/O event week Google announced a big upgrade to its Search feature the biggest one in twenty five years.. It seems that not many people are excited about the new artificial intelligence features. Since the event a lot of users have been moving to DuckDuckGo a different search engine that lets them turn off the intelligence features completely.

DuckDuckGo said on Twitter on Tuesday “People are not just talking about Googles artificial intelligence search they are leaving Google. Yesterday the number of people installing our app increased by thirty percent in the United States. More and more people are joining us. It is time to stop using Google.”

DuckDuckGo shared some information with Toms Guide. The information shows that the number of people installing the DuckDuckGo app increased by an average of eighteen point one percent from week to week between May twentieth and May twenty fifth in the United States. The number of installs was much higher on Apple devices with an increase of thirty three percent from week, to week and it even reached almost seventy percent on May twenty fifth.

The founder and CEO of DuckDuckGo Gabriel Weinberg told Paul Thurrott “Google is forcing people to use intelligence without giving them a choice. As a result the search results are getting worse not better. We want to be the search engine that puts users in control and lets them decide how how little artificial intelligence they want to use.
